Develop Your Superpowers

Authentic living with Gina Charles, New thought

According to researches including the National Science Foundation, it is estimated that we have between 50,000 and 70,000 thoughts per day. That’s roughly 2,000 to 2,900 thoughts per hour, or 35 to 49 thoughts per minute. As remarkable as those numbers seem, I believe that for most of us those numbers are even higher. Maybe not back in the day of little houses on the prairie, but certainly in the day of real-time technology.

We think thoughts, apply reasoning, and formulate beliefs. The problem is that our thoughts and beliefs aren’t necessarily true, or in our highest good.

How many of the roughly 60,000 thoughts in your day are absolutely true?

How many of them are in your best interest?

How many are in the best interest of all?

Authentic Living with Gina Charles - are you the puppet to thought?

When I do not notice thought, it controls me. Imagine that, it controls me because I don’t notice it. The mind thinks, and I believe it without question, all day long, everyday. Some unmonitored thought has me on top of the world, and some of it has me hiding under the bed.

Developing the ability to notice thought is one of your superpowers.

Authentic living with Gina Charles - Noticing thought is your superpower.

Reasoning Or Intuition?

Reasoning guesses. Intuition knows.

Realization, spiritual awakening with Gina CharlesThe most the thinking mind can do on its own, is play with logic and percentages. That’s like running around in a circle. While it can be fun, eventually you’ll notice that you’re not getting anywhere.

This is how you’re having the human experience, until you notice that you’ve been running around in a cerebral circle.

It is then, the magic begins.

Become the eyewitness to thought, so that you can move thought aside to connect with Self, higher Intelligence, Intuition. Reasoning guesses. Intuition knows.

Are you reasoning or intuiting your life?

For more on the practice of being the eyewitness, see: FUEL Your Life by Gina Charles.

EMPOWERMENT: Today I will be the eyewitness to thought, so that I may quiet the mental chatter, and listen.

Thought: Are You In The Box?

Thought, spiritual growth and awakening with Gina CharlesThought is the limitation within which I have this human experience. At first, that may be a slippery concept to grasp. Beyond the understanding that I can think, and fall immersed into thought, is the concept that I can step out of thought.

As long as I’m experiencing life from inside the box of thoughts, stories, beliefs, and mental conjecture, my happiness will be a temporary candy coating. Jumping out of the box is equivalent to gaining lucidity, or waking up to being present in the moment, outside of unneeded thought.

Lucidity is to be awake, or present within the silence of the mind. Jumping out of the box, gives my higher Self a direct connection to this playground we call life. This is the space from which authentic change and elation manifests.

EMPOWERMENT: Today I will be the eyewitness, so that I may jump out of the box of thought and connect with Guidance, higher Intelligence, and boundless possibility.

Positive Thinking: The Valley Of Faux Mercy

Authentic living and spiritual growth and awakening with Gina CharlesI value the power of positive thinking. Until I can step outside of, or turn thought off completely, I can choose positive thought. If I’m going to live in a story, I’ll at least try to make it a good one.

That said, be leery not to wander too far into The Valley of Faux Mercy. The thinking mind likes this place, as it perpetuates thinking. Whether I am submersed in negative thought, or I am submersed in positive thought, I am still submersed in thought.

It’s all still thought.

Negative thought hurts right away, and positive thought has the potential to bring temporary relief. The ebb and flow between the two allows me to rest just long enough to endure another struggle. Around, and around I go.

Using the power of positive thinking helps to turn my ship around. Happy is better than sad any day.

But there’s something more, something even better.

storiesUse positive thought to get you closer to the gate of lucidity. That mentally silent state of Awareness where you perceive without the mind constantly chiming in. That state of clarity, that feels sort of like falling in love. You know, that other way to have this human adventure.

It’s easier for the mind to go from happy thought, to no thought, than it is for the mind to go from feel-bad thought, to no thought. So if you find yourself in the Valley of Faux Mercy, don’t stop there, keep going. There’s something more, there’s something better.

When you perceive without the mind’s opinions, you are lucid. You are free. Welcome home.

EMPOWERMENT: The less judgement I have, the more I see.

Turn Down The Static, Turn Up The Guidance

Turning down the unnecessary, unfounded, negative static of the thinking mind, allows us to better hear and feel our own Guidance.

The first step is to notice thought.

Authentic Living with Gina Charles, beyond mindfulness is Authenticity, Connect with Guidance

Catch thought in action, while it’s chattering in unnoticed, unexamined banter. Now quiet the mind and move its focus to the body. Put your mentally quiet focus on your breathing for a moment. Then move your wordless focus to how you feel in your skin, or notice an aroma, or breeze or other stimuli of the present moment. Ground your wordless focus in the present moment. Listen quietly, wordlessly.

Perceive without mental evaluation.

This is the place from which we can hear the whispers of inner Guidance.

Guidance, that is always pointed in the direction of our highest good.

Guidance, that is always patiently waiting for us to wake up out of the unnoticed, negative mental banter.

EMPOWERMENT: Today I will turn down the mental static, and connect with inner Guidance.

Awareness Rising

Authentic living and spiritual growth with Gina Charles

We see and experience our lives through the filters of our fear, history, beliefs, and learned behaviors.

We live this way because we were not taught there is an alternative. Living life unawares is painful. Living in Awareness, changes everything.

We don’t see the world as it is, we see it as we are. -Anais Nin

When we recognize thought as something

separate from Self, we are Awake.

We can then step outside of the limitations of thought,

into our own Awareness and boundless possibility.

It is here that we bloom

into our own Greatness.

Stay Awake with me.

EMPOWERMENT: Today I will be the eyewitness to thought.

I intend to wake up in the middle of my mind’s thinkity-think. I will witness thought, as if someone else had just said it. I will examine it, and discard those thoughts that do not serve my highest good. I have found my tools, and know how to use them.

How To Wake Up To Life

Authenic Living with Gina Charles

Analytic Inebriation

The thinking mind has two priorities. The first is to think, and the other is to enhance the mind-made identity. Make no mistake, the thinking mind will take every opportunity to do what it does best, think. In a way, you can’t blame it. It’s only doing what it was made to do.

Excessive thought, however intoxicating, is not necessary to my well-being or existence. Unwarranted thought eventually produces bad feelings. The bad feelings are the messengers, the sign posts, that we are engulfed in gratuitous thought.

A Living Meditation

To be lucid is to be present in the moment, outside of unnecessary thought. It is to perceive life without narration. From this space I’m able to acknowledge thought if it pops up, without falling unconscious into a story. When I step outside of surplus thought that is nonessential to my survival, I wake up to life. I cut down on the inner static and am better able to hear and/or feel Guidance. I enter the space of opportunity, and allow novel ideas to surface. I beckon the muse, and open the door to intuition. Reasoning guesses, intuition knows. Lucidity is a living meditation.

Snow Globe Of The Frontal Lobe

The thinking mind is like a snow globe. The tiny specs of glitter that float around inside are like thoughts, beliefs and stories. Stories about who we think we are, and our life experience. The snow globe of the frontal lobe pumps out evaluations, judgements, and opinions. This is the kind of thinking that is unnecessary. Thinking that my life does not depend on. This type of thinking becomes the bubble through which I try to live my life.

Gina Charles' Illustration of awakening to the Snow Globe of the Frontal Lobe

When thought is the foreground of life, reality becomes the background.

To live as our true Selves, outside of the globe of thought, we must switch states. The absence of the mind’s chatty and unfounded supposition, opens the space for clarity to emerge.

In lucidity, reality becomes the forefront of my experience, and thought becomes the background.

I wake up to the bigger picture of my situation. I begin to see reality, instead of the mind’s version of it. I recognize sign posts pointing to my highest good. In this state I have a direct connection to the people in my life, and to life itself. Here, we experience life peacefully, with that subtle, underlying buzz of excitement.

This is authentic living, stepping out of the limitations of unnoticed, unexamined thinking. This is where life gets real, juicy even. This is where the mind stops talking about life, and you experience it.

Step into unbound possibility.

Becoming the eyewitness to thought is a practice worth exercising. When we wake up out of the snow globe of the frontal lobe, we wake up to our lives, and step into the field of unbound possibility, serendipity, and abundance. This is the space of miracles, that have your name on them.

There is a field….I’ll meet you there.

What magic have you experienced in lucidity?

Making The Shift

theshift

Which Came First?

Which came first, the pain or the story? The story, of course. When I completely immerse myself in reiterating painful stories, and I believe them, I create a bad habit. These bad habits run my life if I am not awake to them. Too much thought, without the balance of being, is an invitation for suffering.

Hell is not a place, it’s a belief.

Whenever I fall submersed into the mind’s activity, I become a puppet to the programming. It’s here where the dream can turn into a nightmare. Believing consistent negative thinking is skating along the edge of the abyss. The deeper in thought you go, the more it hurts. The deeper you go, the more you forget who you really are. Hell is not a place, it’s a belief.

Practice Equals Patterns

I am much greater than any feel-bad hormones that may be traveling through my bloodstream. I suffer not because I’m not good enough, can’t get it right, or lost my way. I suffer because I’m sleepwalking. I’m unconscious, retelling, reliving, rehashing unquestioned negativity, and believing it.

Practice equals patterns. The more I sing my feel-bad songs, especially if they are coupled with peak emotion, I create a bad habit, a program, a pattern. I wire suffering to play in a loop, over and over again.

The Shift

I am greater than my unnoticed thought. I am greater than any story my mind may tell. I am greater than my history. My well-being is my responsibility. Waking up into self-kindness fuels my journey back to Self.

It’s time to practice something new, and to wire new patterns of empowerment. Being the lucid eyewitness to thought, accepting unconditionally and going with the flow of my highest good, is the recipe for stepping out of pain and suffering. It’s time to awaken.

Empowerment: Today I will practice being the eyewitness to thought and emotion.

The Dance Of Awakening

dancesteps

  • Intend to witness my thoughts.

  • Actually witness my thoughts.

  • Unwittingly fall back into unconsciousness, submersed in thought.

  • Wake up once again to witnessing my thoughts.

  • Round and round I go. …Now I’m dancing. :)

Patterns, Programs And Puppets

Our brains learn by repetition. When we repeat something, it is memorized within the electrical activity in the brain. Since typing has become hardwired in my brain, I am able to type quickly and effortlessly. In addition to activity, behavior can be memorized as well. Although my mind can learn how to type, or dance, it can also learn self-sabotage, defensiveness, and fear.

One of the first things a hungry baby learns is that crying somehow gets them fed. While some learned behavior perpetuates survival, if not updated, some learned behavior can get you thrown out of a restaurant.

Stepping Up For Myself

I did not control the circumstances that lent themselves to the programming that took place during my formative years. I am, however, responsible for that programming today. The good news is that I possess the power to deprogram. I have the power to break the pattern in which my reactions fire, and turn me into a puppet of resistance and misunderstanding.

Changing our programming creates the authentic, permanent changes that we work so hard to attain in our lives. Changing my programming can also be described as the making or breaking of a habit. For anyone who has ever tried to make or break a habit, you know that that can be a task that requires repetitious, consistent effort, and often much patience.

Memorized behavior is a byproduct of living life submersed in thought.

Cut The Strings

Memorized behavior is a byproduct of living life submersed in thought. Updating, or deleting unnecessary memorized behavior, must begin with this one step, this one habit, this one practice. I must begin to develop the skill of witnessing my thoughts. Witnessing them as if someone else had just said them. Witnessing them as an eyewitness. This gives me a fighting chance, and the ability to discard all thought that does not serve me. Are you REACTING to life from memorized behavior, or are you RESPONDING to life outside of the self-made identity?

Empowerment

I can’t put out a fire if I don’t know where it is. Today I will notice my thoughts.
